2003 a very old LED board was rescued from being thrown away. After 3 years in save storage a 3rd semester project was born.
The board should be put back into operation and being upgraded with modern technology. After over 10 years since the LED board had been built, no information or documentation was available at all. The main electronics contained technology which was invented 1976 (8085 µP plus RAM and ROM).
The task was to make it possible to use a standard web browser to be able to program the messages shown on the board. This includes different effects like scrolling and internet based news like RSS feeds or the current date / time.
